Friday Rides

We have been so busy but for some reason I haven't been bringing my camera along on all of our outings.  For the month of February we spent our Fridays with my mom and the horses.  We have had an uncommonly warm winter and most weekends have been sunny and warm so we loaded the horses up and took them to the Equestrian Center to let them run and let the kids ride.  I think it is probably both girls favorite thing to do.

 Poor Sim is so allergic- he would rather stay in the truck.

 Sometimes others would join us- my sis, nephews and niece 

March 1st we finally had a huge snow storm, but it melted within a few days- I wonder what the next few months will be like?

Horsing around

The kids and I went on a lovely horse ride with my mom, Nana.

The girls traded off steering Shadow, my mom rode Senator, and Sim and I rode on Maize.

 We discovered that, while we thought Simeon was over his horse allergy, we were wrong.  This poor kid had a pretty miserable time- this is a picture of the beginning of the swelling of the eyes- it got really bad later.

 We stopped and made a fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.

I love that we get to do these fun things and enjoy the outdoors just down the street from our house.  And I love that my mom will take us with her on her horses.  Next time, I think I'll have to pre-medicate Simeon so he's not so miserable.  The girls, however, were in heaven.

Horses, horses, horses...

While I was growing up, some of my favorite memories were spent on the back of a horse. My kids adore them and we take every opportunity to jump on them when we can. We had a nice sunny Saturday a few weeks ago and zipped over to Nana's house to ride a bit. She has a young colt who is very green, but it's good to have him ridden with the older horses in a mellow environment. So we put the kids on the tamer horses and my mom and I took turns on the colt, Senator.

Olivia has been riding for a few years on her own, but Jayda has just started riding by herself. It's fun to see the confidence she has and how strong she can be with stubborn old Shadow.

Hopefully, we will have a summer full of horse adventures.
